Language for Resilience

I have worked on the British Council's "Language for Resilience" programmes as thought leader, materials development consultants, research consultant and workshop facilitator.

“Language for Resilience” (L4R) is the British Council’s programme which promotes language learning as a way for refugees and host communities to withstand challenges and recover from crisis. Much of my L4R work has been in training teachers and other educational stakeholders, for example:

  • Delivering training and facilitating workshops to stakeholders across the MENA region

  • Conducting a wide-ranging, multi-stakeholder qualitative analysis in Jordan, which focused on understanding the role of languages in accessing learning pathways and psychosocial support.

  • Working as the academic lead for the ‘access to education, training and employment’ component of the publication Language-for-resilience Cross-disciplinary perspectives on the role of language in enhancing the resilience of refugees and host communities
